Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an indicator of the level of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through many different methods that include the use of upgrade components and also increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to boost their stats.
You can find upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available throughout all over the world, as well as rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. Upgrade components are the main method to upgrade equipment. These are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and the majority require a certain level of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses while others provide a general bonus.
There are several types of upgrade components available in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments can be placed in any equipment type and provide smaller bonuses than those that are type specific. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting material.
To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. item upgrading will be displayed on the right side of the screen. It will display the expected stats following the upgrade. If you don't possess enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.
The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components required to create a particular item. The cost of upgrading increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, however it can be reduced using a variety of ways, such as purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them with other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded with a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia, or a rune, and many are upgraded by an upgrade suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item, adding an adjective, like "Radiant" or "Minor vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any kinds of mods.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They animate to capture the attention of the viewer and stimulate interest in the brain. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, making them more effective at conveying the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also enhance the recall of a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a certain range. This is displayed on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This range is the maximum value that the glyph can increase a stat's value by, not the amount that it will actually increase it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you are creating it for.
The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it hasn't been incorporated to the gear yet, you can move the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
You can remove a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item will be destroyed within which it is placed, but you can recover the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards, so this should not be considered a loss.
If you take an item off after putting a glyph on it, the shards of that glyph will disappear. You can also add the glyph on your equipment to provide an extra benefit. For instance the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at once. This is helpful for players who take lots of damage from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes that are placed on equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, including mystery boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an unspecified affix, which is generally better than the one they had before. Reroll tokens are also a good method to reroll the stats of a weapon and can be upgraded to increase damage or other perks.
Rerolled items don't appear on the menu for upgrade options, but they are still able to be upgraded. When you press the "upgrade button", you can recycle these rerolled items. This will change the layout of the item's window and let up to six items be selected to recycle. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its gauge of level. The amount is by the item's rarity and its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable for recycling than those with lower levels.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls will determine the percentage chance of a weapon trait. If it is higher, the weapon will be upgraded, and if it rolls lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.
Rerolls are a great option to upgrade an item, however, players should be aware that it could lower the overall ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls required to raise it to its final ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective with Diadems and ring items that do not have any competing ilvl-raising options.
The reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it with money or a food item that allows players to alter their build without spending too much time and energy. However paying for rerolls is not something that the developers would like to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning add an ability to change races in the near future.
Leveling
There are many ways to level up an upgrade for an item. The most effective method to level up an upgrade for an item is to increase the upgrade amount. This increases the value of an upgrade for a stat. The second is to boost the effect of an upgrade which increases the healing or damage of a particular stat. Additionally there is the possibility to upgrade the base item to a more powerful upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
When you upgrade items it is essential to keep in mind that upgrades aren't always planned. Most of the time, a higher roll is determined by glyphs. However there are instances when a more or unique roll could occur. In addition the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the type of item which means that if you upgrade a unique or rare item to an exceptional item type it has a chance to achieve an increased iLevel.
Upgrades can be expensive, especially if you are upgrading gear from the standard track to legendary. The price will be based on the item's base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels it has. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to be completed in order to move on to the next level.
If you're lucky your upgraded item will reach the highest level on its upgrade track and gain a bonus effect. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level, however. Generally speaking, the upgrade effect is increased by a factor of +3.
The iLevel also changes in accordance with the item's upgrade path and base level. For instance, an item that is upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary one is likely to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
